I agree with you completly on the fact that the Duarte reading simplified the outlining a little to much! It was a little to short and not as clear in my head. I have also used the Beebe & Beebe outline before so that is what I will be using for my Big idea to!!
My biggest complaint with the Duarte reading was that they just presented an idea rather than actually expanding on it and how to go about doing it, so I'm glad to see that someone shared that same complaint! I definitely preferred the Beebe & Beebe reading too because of this and because they were more explanatory in how to actually construct an outline.
To go along with what you both said, the Duarte reading was too much of an analogy for me. I feel like they extrapolated a little too much, and it just doesn't fit in my head with my idea of what an outline should be.
